Do you know your numbers?

By this we mean things like  Maximum Heart Rate and Maximum Aerobic Power (MAP) and Threshold Power [FTP]

One of the best ways to find these is to do a Maximal Ramp Test with us under controlled conditions using the British Cycling Protocol. 

We use the very latest specification Wattbike Pro for this.

Cost for Ramp testing is £70* and includes a full written report with all your personal heart rate and power zones including sweetspot and FTP, pedalling analysis, power to weight ratio and estimated VO2 Max. 

We also offer Threshold Testing via the famous 20-minute Coggan Allan method to accurately set Functional Threshold Power [FTP].

We also offer all testing  as a stand alone service whether or not you decide to take any of our coaching packages.

*Performance testing is free every six months with our eQuipe training package.

On the day of the test

  • Ensure you are rested at least 24 hours in advance.

  • Please record the saddle height of your normal bike - centre of bottom bracket to top of saddle.

  • Bring an ANT+ compatible heart rate chest belt or one can be provided by us for the test.

  • Bring your normal cycling shoes either Look Keo/SPD/ toeclip - any other pedal systems such as SPD-SL/Speedplay/Time will require you to bring your own pedals.

  • You will be weighed and your height recorded.

  • Bring a towel, cold drink and suitable cycling clothing i.e. shorts, sweat vest etc.
